To ensure a portfolio of extremely high credit quality, the fund invests mainly in securities issued directly by the U.S. Treasury. While shares of the fund itself are not guaranteed, all securities the fund buys must carry the same "full faith and credit" guarantee of the U.S. government that Treasuries carry.
As with all money market funds that are offered in the United States, this fund is subject to the strict standards established for money funds by the federal government. These standards are designed to help money funds meet their goal of maintaining a stable $1.00 share price*.
